The problem
AHI Gardens maintains commercial green space across Brisbane. Body corporates, precincts, industrial sites. Crews out every day, compliance behind every job, and customers who need proof the work was done.
The company had growth targets for the year, and software sat on the critical path to hitting them. Managing Director Trevor Dixon put the work out to several qualified agencies and collected proposals.
Every one of them could build it. Only one asked what a year of waiting would cost the business.
What we did differently
The other agencies priced the scope. We worked out that the scope was never the real problem. The real cost was a year of not growing while the software got built.
So we went at it from both ends. First we resequenced the roadmap around what actually moved the business, so the things AHI needed live yesterday shipped first instead of arriving in whatever order they appeared in the spec. Plenty of the original scope turned out to be able to wait, and some of it never needed building at all.
Then we ran what was left on parallel workstreams rather than a single queue, which took a roadmap that would have run most of a year down to about half.
Velocity was the word Trevor used. Underneath it was knowing which parts of the scope to attack first.
What we built
Compliance that carries its own weight. Staff read, sign, and acknowledge OHS documentation in the platform. Audit-ready reports generate themselves and go straight to customers or external auditors.
Evidence customers can actually see. Finished jobs produce a report with photos at a link the customer just opens. No account, no password, no chasing.
AI-assisted site audits. A walk-around recording with a customer becomes a proposal and a quote inside a day. It used to take weeks.
Field operations and mobile releases. The technicians' app ships through both stores, and we run the Apple and Google review processes so nobody at AHI has to.
The result
Roughly a third less middle management for the same operational output. The chasing, assembling, and forwarding that used to need a person in the middle now happens in the platform.
